Theme of World Tourism Day 2022- Rethinking Tourism

Looking ahead towards the industry’s bright future the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) started celebrating World Tourism Day in the year 1980. This year UNWTO will highlight the opportunity to rethink how the tourism sector begins to recover, building on unparalleled political and popular recognition for the sector. Coordinating the efforts across the levels of government, corporations, and communities to create a resilient, inclusive, and environmentally friendly economy requires prioritizing human and environmental well-being.

Tourism also supports the rural community’s conservation efforts including those preventing endangered species, food, and ancient customs to preserve their unique cultural and natural heritage.

Every year UNWTO decides the theme and the host country for World Tourism Day which draws people’s attentiontowards tourism.

This year the official celebration of World Tourism Day will be held in Bali, Indonesia with the theme of ‘Rethinking Tourism’. And, the main focus will be to review the growth of the tourism sector after the COVID-19 pandemic.

Tourism plays a significant role in promoting a nation’s economy and building its brand value, image, and identity. Therefore, the participants are also going to hold a discussion on ‘The Tourism We Want’. The Event will be led by the representatives of the Bali tourism sector and representatives from UNWTO states will be invited as well.
